- PHA resin is certified marine biodegradable, meaning if it accidentally gets into the sea, it will break down significantly faster than regular plastic, ensuring that no microplastics persist in the long term. However, while PHA resin is marine biodegradable, manufactured products that don't have marine applications, like our cups, can't be certified as marine biodegradable to avoid littering.
