Easy to Implement Changes to help Restore our Planet this Earth Day

21st Apr 2021

We believe that every day is Earth Day, however today, 22nd April, is the officially recognised day to help draw attention to the numerous issues facing our planet.

We've taken inspiration from EarthDay.org and have listed some ideas below to create small but very significant changes to your lifestyle, which will in turn help restore our Earth.

Meatless Mondays

Be part of the change and try participating in meatless Mondays! There are some wonderful plant-based recipes available all over the internet. Start with one day and perhaps aim to have 3 meat free meals a week.

A BBC article states that climate change poses a threat to the security of our food supply, with rising temperatures, increased rain and more extreme weather events having an impact on crops and livestock. It also highlights that food production also contributes to global warming.

Agriculture, together with forestry, accounts for about a quarter of greenhouse gas emissions. Livestock rearing contributes to global warming through the methane gas the animals produce, but also via deforestation to expand pastures.

Stop Deforestation

Stop deforestation by supporting companies that take an active role against it. And, this Earth Day, consider donating to Carbon Neutral, an Australian Profit for Purpose carbon solutions provider and carbon offset developer.

Start Plogging

Start Plogging! Picking Up Trash While Jogging! This is a fun and effective way to get a workout in while cleaning the community. You can learn more about Plogging at the Great Global Cleanup.

Become a Citizen Scientist

Become a citizen scientist with the Global Earth Challenge app! Anyone can use the mobile app to help monitor and mitigate threats to environmental and human health. Download today and collect environmental data near you! Available on the app stores.

Go Plastic Free

Plastic pollution can create big problems for human and ecosystem health. Everyday actions, however, can lessen the problem. Learn about simple ways you can act to combat plastic pollution every day and restore our Earth.

If you do anything this Earth Day, educate yourself and those around you. Education is key to making the changes that we desperately need to restore our beautiful Earth. It isn’t hard to find major scientific reports on the effect climate change is having on our planet. Start the change with small steps and eventually those small steps will lead to big change.

Happy Earth Day!
